Unknown Union Soldier, Fitzgerald

Fitzgerald was founded by Union Veterans, and there is a Union section in Evergreen Cemetery, with several unknown soldiers resting beside established founders of the colony.

    Could it be possible for these men to have been station in the area during the Reconstruction Era?
    In Orangeburg SC several black Union soldiers died during Reconstruction and were buried in the Catholic cemetery. Later theit bodies were removed to a public cemetery. Very possible their original markers with names got lost prior to relocation. Just a possibility in your situation.
