The historic district around Shotwell Street is one of the most beautiful in South Georgia. And this house, like many others in the district, features a variety of architectural influences. It was built by Mart Harrell and was the first house in Bainbridge to be built of concrete blocks. The concrete was made by the local express agent in his back yard.

My early childhood days ere spent in Bainbridge Ga where I attended school till the 7th grade—the house shown was across the street from where we lived–I had a friend whose family occupied this home & I would sometimes go & play with him toy soldiers on his porch!!
Many memories of this–Many thanks for the beautiful job on pictures –etc–
As always, Brian, you’ve captured some beautiful, older homes, in our SW Georgia corner. Obviously, they’ve had great care, or restoration – as they seem to be good for another 100 years or so.
