James Palmer notes that this was originally the Bank of Coleman, which closed during the Great Depression. It served as the post office for many years thereafter.

He also notes: Where this Catalpa tree grows was once the location of the J.J. Rogers General Store and another store building. They were torn down in the 1970’s.

I attended school in Coleman in the 1st grade, then I transferred to Cuthbert. The schoolhouse burned in the late 40’s or early 50’s.
Notice the flagpole on the sidewalk in front of the building. This was used ro raise the U.S. flag when the Post Office was located in the building.
Sweet!
Good shot ,bet it was a bank !
Yes, it was originally the (Hammock & Rish) Bank of Coleman which I think closed in the Great Depression. Then, it was used as the Post Office in Coleman for many years. It was abandoned when the new Post Office was built in the 1980’s (I think). I definitely know it was a Post Office in the 1970’s.
