First United Methodist Church, 1901, Blakely

The Methodists first organized in Blakely in 1853 by the circuit riding reverend Ira Cook. The first church building was located on Court Square and was shared with the Presbyterians. The congregation grew rapidly over the next half century and the present church was constructed in 1901. The church history is quite interesting.

For a Methodist church, Blakely’s appears to be more like a mini cathedral. Any history to go along with your picture, Brian?

There is a bit of information on the link to their website, but it’s not overly informative. It is a massive building for a Methodist church in a small town. Blakely, though, is really impressive.
