The New Perry Hotel was established in 1894 as Cox’s Inn and underwent several renovations and changes of ownership in its history. The 1925 redesign was the brainchild of owner Rochelle Cheeves Skellie, a rare female entrepreneur of the time. A longtime icon with travelers and diners alike, it recently [as of 2016] ceased operation.
Update: As of 2024, the City of Perry is poised to issue a demolition permit for the property. It was demolished in July 2024.
It has been demolished. The only thing remaining is the fencing around the perimeter. You can’t even tell there was a building ever in that spot

A landmark for sure! My great aunt was the cook at the Perry Hotel for years. Even though she could not eat in the beautiful dining room, her meals were spread across all of the tables.
I have wonderful memories of this beautiful hotel….I worked as a waitress there during high school in the late 70”s.
The Garden Room was the best! The food flowers & white tablecloths where pure southern charm! Many people would travel thru Perry just to have the pleasure of eating there. Sad to hear the news:(

I spent a great deal of my childhood at the hotel! Many of my birthday parties were held there! I remember Ms. Nanette’s beautiful flowers on the tables directly from their garden at the hotel! I remember Marsha Green and I pretending to check people in and serve customers in the restaurant after the hotel closed!!!😘 I would only hope someone local could bring this icon back to the City of Perry! The Greene family truly made this hotel a part of many memories for so many of us!!!!

Would like to see any other photos that any one might have of the New Perry Hotel from the 1930’s decade. I believe my grandfather and grandmother worked there. Theyer names are Phil Dixon and Marie Dixon, maybe someone has old photos of them.
It’s difficult to imagine this iconic inn being shut down! A significant loss to the city of Perry and to the area.
