It’s rare to find an old country store like this today. This one even had gas pumps and Sunbeam bread signs and seemed to be very busy. Not long after I made these photographs, though, I heard it had closed.

I passed by the store last Saturday and it is still closed. A sign on the front door advertised it as being for rent. Thanks for all you do to record and preserve Vanishing South Georgia.
I used to live less than two miles from this store. It has just recently been closed but I dont know why. Do you ever photograph oak park in southern Emanuel county? It borders Lyons, and is full of local history.
Oak Park? Was just in a Facebook discussion with a bunch of Oak Park residents pertaining to James Eubanks, the mad farmer. I’m a photographer myself. Was going to shoot the old home place and graves but figured I’ d let sleeping dogs lie, or let the dead rest in peace more respectfully.
