It became the home of Lulie Daniel Perkins and her family. I remember visiting the house as a boy during World War II following the death of a young Daniel man who was killed while in military service.
This is my great grandfather’s house, Harley Henly Daniel (1870-1960) and his wife Moiselle Iona Durrence (1877-1947. They had 12 children, 2 who died in early infancy.
He was a county commissioner for Evans County for 8 years and an Ordinary. His youngest daughter, Loulie, inherited the house and lived in it until her death.
My grandmother, Ora Daniel was a twin and the daughter of Harley and Moiselle. I adored going to that house. It had a central hallway from the front to the back of the house designed so as to increase circulation and keep the house cool.
Harley’s father was William Washington Daniel, a Civil War veteran, accumulated 3,000 acres which he left to his 9 children. 20 years ago that house was still standing.
