Avera, Georgia

Broad Street was the center of Avera’s historic commercial district. Though the population hasn’t changed much over the past century [223 in the 2020 census], stores and other businesses have mostly vanished from the community.

I was raised in Avera, GA &it was a very busy town when I was a child. I am now 84. Thanks for the pictures. My Daddy ran the Auto Repair & service station right in town. Wonderful memories of that place. We thought it was heaven on earth.
