The congregation dates to 1847. The present structure, dating to 1918, was renovated in 1972 by Augusta civil engineer Harry Peihl Vankerhoff. It’s one of the most noticeable landmarks in Sylvania.

The architect of these types of churches is CW Carlton.
Interesting Brian. Wish we knew the architect. This either has to be a pattern book standard design or a design be the same architect who designed Martha Brown Methodist Church on Moreland Ave In East Atlanta which is close to an Identical twin to this church.
