Best known as the Tate House today, the Walker-Breedlove-Scott-Tate-Thompson house was built circa 1828. Judging from the appearance, it likely originated as a Federal townhouse, with the Second Empire appearance being an evolution in the design.
It’s also considered by many in Milledgeville to be haunted, and though I don’t generally comment on such things, it’s a bit difficult to avoid with the Tate House. Sam Walker, a mayor of Milledgeville, bought the house in 1870. He was known as the “meanest man in Milledgeville” for the mistreatment and abuse of three successive wives and the death of his son, for whom he wouldn’t even call a doctor when the young man was suffering with meningitis. Numerous owners and guests have reported strange phenomena in the house over the years.

Another great old home Brian…and her we do see what appears to be the mansard roof.
Yes we do! Though I’m not a big fan of mansard roofs.
I like them fine…in Paris
