A fire destroyed much of the commercial district of Quitman in 1897. The building on the right dates to 1898, indicating it was among many businesses rising from the devastation the following year.

When I was a youth growing up in Quitman, the building on the corner was ‘Home Materials’ and had everything needed to build a home as well as hardware items. I remember Charles and Eunice Roberts either owned the store or ran the store.
