Gragg-Owen-Miller House, 1910, Brunswick

Thanks to Ginger Miller for identifying this wonderful Colonial Revival, which has been in her family for six generations. She writes: My grandparents (Gragg) purchased the house, my parents (Owen) had it next and now we (Miller) have the house. Mr. McKinnon who built the McKinnon House across the street built this house for his daughter. Our property was a part of the land grant for Glynn Academy. We have the abstract on the property dating back to 1835. She also notes that it has a brick basement, a real rarity in sea-level Brunswick.

I was trying to find just now the married name of Carolyn Gragg. I think she moved to Odum after marriage. In this search today I came across the obituary of Alan, her brother. I have not seen John, the other brother, since 1960. Carolyn taught me English in 1956-57 in a little classroom-trailer situated behind the Prep Bldg. at Glynn Academy. She got on my case for putting the period to end a sentence, not at the right margin, but across the page and down a line. Also she didn’t like the fact that I cited something back to an Encyclopedia Britannica dated–or outdated–1947. I want to report to someone that she is a former GA teacher still with us.

Loved visiting my good friend Carolyn Gragg there in the 50’s.. her Daddy who was mayor at the time teased us unmercifully!

I spent a lot of time in this lovely home during my high school days as Carolyn Gragg was one of my best friends. I always thought of her Dad as Mayor Gragg because he was mayor of Brunswick at one time. And I remember Ginger also as she was a neighbor of my parents in the South End.

One other thing. We added the cottage addition in 2011 for my dad to move in with us. The cottage has 900 square feet of living space that opens directly into the main house.

Excited to see our home pictured! The 1910 house has a brick basement, which is not often found in Brunswick. Six generations of our family have called this house home!

Not really. My grandparents (Gragg) purchased the house, my parents (Owen) had it next and then we(Miller) have had the house. Mr. McKinnon who built the McKinnon House across the street built this house for his daughter. Our property was a part of the land grant for Glynn Academy. We have the abstract on the property dating back to 1835. Records on the property before that were destroyed in a courthouse fire.
        Love seeing your work!
