Thanks to Mike McCall for sharing this photograph. This Plantation Plain house, which was located near the traffic light in Ludowici, has been gone for quite a few years. It is also identified as the Clyde Chapman House.
Davis-Chapman House, Ludowici
This is the house where my Daddy was born and his parents owned it, Lee Bennington and Lorima Alaska Davis. Grandma died of a heart attach while she was ironing, and Grandpa (Lee Bennington) was killed in an explosion at the Yaryan factory in Brunswick. He is buried in Palmetto Cemetery and Grandma is buried in Baggs Cemetery in Ludowici.
As many of the houses in Ludowici have, this has the tiled Ludowici roofing. Think of the weight! But it is an enormous roof.–eeb

Another sad loss Brian. While gathering additional info try to find out if this house had a flat Ludowici clay tile roof. I can’t tell from the pic for sure, but it looks as if it might. It is amazing to see all those modest houses in Ludowici with $60,000 roofs!!
It did have a Ludowici tile roof. It had just been removed when the photo was made. I don’t know anything else, but that was recalled.
