My great Aunt Blossom’s home (Daisy Malone Henderson, always “Blossom”). Built by her husband Charles Henderson shortly after their marriage. The round “turret” was her music room. She played the piano and the organ and was for many years the organist at Monticello Presbyterian Church. The small window over the front porch was the attic bedroom where I always stayed. The window unit air conditioner hummed me to sleep when I visited even into my thirties. I’m so glad I made the effort to visit Aunt Blossom and for my daughters to get a sense of Monticello. The Malone family roots run deep in Jasper county and though I’ve only been a visitor, it feels like home.
