The Pump House, 1854, Macon

The site of Macon’s first water works, this pump house served the growing city in the 19th century and was abandoned when a larger facility was built elsewhere. It was used as an antique store for a time beginning in the 1930s and sat empty again until Carey Pickard restored it for residential use in 2001.

Thanks for your kind comment Tamara.
The house was used as an antique shop from 1934 until we got it in 2001 and converted into residential use for the first time.

The pump house is a very cool residence. I hope the newer owner got a great deal on it. I’m sure it took a lot of hard work and money to be the home it is now.

    Cheers,
