This was originally the home of Nathan Ellis Bulloch, who moved to Preston in 1919. It was likely built soon thereafter. Though quite late for the style, this Queen Anne form is typical of many pattern books and the sunburst is likely a vernacular addition chosen by Mr. Bulloch. Thanks to Debbie Walker, a Preston artist who has painted the house, for the background.

A beautiful house even today as you drive through Preston. It’s very near what was once known as Poplar Springs Primitive Baptist Church, which sat a few miles down the road off Highway 45. The church is renamed and still stands firmly. The old cemetery is still there, and well-maintained.
