I believe and have always been told that my great great Uncle Isaac Spence (1858-1933) was the original builder of this house around 1900 or earlier. Isaac Spence was a prominent merchant in Ochlocknee and lived in the community for over 40 years until his death in 1933. Isaac was the son of Tharpe and Rebecca Wynn Spence and born in nearby Spence Community. He was married to Mary Ann Singletary in 1883. Isaac and Mary Ann never had any children, so after their passing the home has past on to other families.
