I am trying to locate my wife’s great grandfather, Alex Preston Bowman (1858-1928). I have reason to believe that He spent his last years in the Butts community and may be buried either here at Johnson Chapel, or somewhere out in the woods nearby. Can anyone help us locate his grave? Thank you.

Thank you for this article. My family also attended Johnson Chapel. It is an awesome congregation and place to worship. My mother is still an active member.

Charlie Jones is Mrs. Laura Jones your mother name. If so tell her I say hello. I am Flossie Johnson daughter. It has been awhile since I been at Johnson Chapel. I know a lot of the older heads are gone. But not Jesus, God is still standing with us.

Praise God I were raised up in this church and my great grandfather started this church. God has been good to everyone. My name is Sandra Johnson. Thanks to whoever went and seen the Lord house. May God keep on blessing you.
