This house was built early 19th century by Dr Richard Alfriend. His daughter Laura was a direct descendent of Pocahontas and was noted as being the first female to lose her life in the cause of the Civil War.
The Cook house was located between this house and the Baptist Church. It was purchased by the church and torn down.

The house is still standing. It is being repaired inside and out. Much bigger inside than it looks from the outside.
