Filling Station, Wadley

Stations of this type were the standard for national retailers of gasoline in the years before World War II and were easily recognizable by travelers. I presume this one in Wadley, which I photographed a few years ago, is still standing.

    I remember filling stations like this. You didn’t have to get out of your car. They put the gas in for you. They cleaned your windshield and even checked your oil level. That was a Service station because that’s what you received. I miss them.
