Smith Farm, Telfair County
Diana Stanley Smith writes that she and her husband Danny own this old farm. “The windmill was used to pump water, not only for the house, but a peach orchard that was there at one time. Many, many people have tried to buy the old windmill, but it isn’t for sale. We want to preserve this piece of history as long as we can“. The windmill is still operational.
Abandoned Farm, Elmodel
I’m not sure if the house or windmill is still standing. The truck bears the name Ben T. Hall.
Update: As of 2015, these structures are no longer standing.
Cicero Fowler Farm, Jeff Davis County
Jesse Bookhardt writes: This house is the old Cicero Fowler home. I knew the family as a young person and Joe Fowler, a son, was one of my best friends. The house had a cement floor and I remember how cool it was compared to most of South Georgia houses that had floors of wood. The windmill…stood to the left of the farm house. It was always a topic of discussion when I was young. I loved to see it pump water from the ground into the catch container.
