Royal Cafe, 1913, Quitman

This sign is a beacon of good food in downtown Quitman. The cafe opened in 1913 and the sign might date to the 1930s, or 1940s at the latest. Follow them on Facebook for directions and menus. They’re open seven days a week.

I really like the contrast of the blue neon with the yellow building! Makes a very striking photo. I’m determined to go eat at the Royal sometime soon.

Ah, the Royal Cafe. That was where my grandfather used to go every morning for a cup of coffee before heading off to start the work day. I remember them having a great breakfast – especially the grits and eggs!
