My great uncle, Noah Armstrong, brought a wagon load of cotton to town, in Shellman in the early 1900’s, and was never seen again. The empty wagon was later returned to my grandfather’s farm, on what is now Old Mateley Rd. (County Rd. #85).
In the 50s this street was bustling with farmers bringing peanuts and cotton to town. To the left was Mr. Gunnells’ store where he bought pecans from local folks.
