I will post information on the history of this church when I can locate it.

Like other “Hardshell” churches in the region, the interior is as plain as the exterior.

The entrance gate (unique among these churches) is dedicated to the memory of James O., Sr., and N. Gertrude Jacobs Smith.

The cemetery is relatively small with burials dating to the early 20th century.

Carol Corley: My parents and paternal grandparents are buried at Pilgrim’s Rest. “The Prescott’s” were members the church there. If you would like to contact me, please email me. mldrury63@bellsouth.net.
Please contact me asap…thank you
Carol, I am sorry I just read your post. I will be glad to answer any questions you have, if I know.

Does anybody read this post
Aunt Inez would be ashamed…
Could you please notify me of who is maintaining the cemetery and church at this time. My mother has been there for 26 years and I have never seen her gravesite look so unattended
Carol, the cemetery is fairly well- maintained now. I visit my parents’ gravesites a couple of times a year. Also, last year repairs were made on the flooring and a new roof added with help from donations. There is a cemetery account at the Brantley County Bank in Nahunta or donations can be sent to Clayton Edgy, 788 110 East, Waynesville, GA 31566
This is where my family is buried. If you would like more information my Mama can possibly help you.
Thanks, Stephanie…any information would be appreciated. I’m really in awe of the beautiful simplicity of these churches in the Brantley Co. area.
HI BRIAN, Great photos as usual, but here you outdid yourself in showing the utter simplicity yet quiet elegance of this old church. Sure hope it is maintained for future generations. Some of my relatives were hardshell Baptists and they were a fiercely jealous people of their own privacy, but especially their worship of God in the most basic manners. THANKS
