My grandparents bought one of the girls dorms and converted it into a home. They lived just down the street from down town Penfield. We used to go visit with them at times. When I was very small there was no inside plumbing. After I was a few years older, I remembered they replaced the linen closet with a bathroom. A few years later the kitchen was upgraded from coal burning stoves to gas. My grandmother always had a good history story to tell. I remember this place with fond memories, even today.

My great grandparents owned the old girls dormitory that sits off in the sharp curve there in Penfield. My great grandma Marie Askew Murray. I wish I knew more about the history I remember visiting her quite frequently as a child . I love that property

My family on my father’s side is from Penfield. I’ll try to locate some of the old pictures we have of the stores and the old house. I believe it was the Martin’s and possibly some Smiths that were from there.
