O. M. Heard House, Cordele

This is a nearly identical twin to the J. W. Cannon House.

Briggs Arrington writes: Oscar M. Heard was my grandfather, W.P. Heard’s brother. They had a wholesale grocery business in Cordele before the Depression. W.P. Heard built a large house on 12th Avenue, I think around 1917.

Lydia Adkins: This house was built by the Heards and is called the Heard House. Renay and Lydia Adkins own it and it is the home of Adkins Studio of Photography. It was in pretty bad shape when we bought it. But it has had a great deal of work done on it.
