Miss Bessy and Mr. Bob Howard ran this when I was a kid. Lived up the street on 11th ave. There was a pony that would walk around turning the cane mill in the field next to the store. Mr. Bob would squeeze the sugar cane in juice out and make syrup. A quarter would go along way back then, a ice cold coke, chips and couple cookies . Mr. Bob drove around in a red and white chevy truck i believe 65-67 model . the right side of the store had like tvs, radios and furniture if my memory serves me. I think i remember Mr. Bob repaired appliances as well. Good Hardworking people that carried a lot of people thru hard times on charge accounts. I remember them fondly.

The Shetland pony was Rebel. Wish I had the old Chevy (a 64 model) papa had. Nice to see people remember the place.
