I have Reddick’s and Harrell’s in my family line. My mother was a Reddick. I would be good to know if this is the home of one of my ancestors. Would love to correspond with someone with these ancestors. Jamie Andrews Hitchcock
Hi. These homes are beautiful. I am interested in the people who built them and lived in them. I appreciate your photography, but wondered if there is more information on W.M. Harrell. The Harrells are my ancestors and I’d love to know. Thanks
Lovely. Proportions are in conflict with the paired windows. Your photos from Bainbridge remind me that I once had dinner there with the son and daughter of Governor Marvin Griffin. They owned the paper and had invited me to speak to a dinner group. Griffin’s famous line was “I stole, but I stole for the people of Georgia.” e also got in hot water with Tech students when he stopped them from participating in the Rose Bowl because the opponents had a black player. I forget how that was resolved, but the Tech boys marched to the old Governor’s mansion and the family supposedly turned out the lights and crawled around on the floor until the students were dispersed.
And, if you are not already familiar with it, Architectural History of the Lower Chattahoochee is a wonderful work.
