Saddlebag Farmhouse, Canoochee
This old farmhouse near Canoochee has seen better days, but it’s a great example of the saddlebag style, and a detached kitchen remains, as seen below.
Mt. Gilead Missionary Baptist Church, Canoochee
This congregation was established as Mt. Gilead Baptist in 1891. A Masonic cornerstone indicates restoration or expansion was done in 1975.
Canoochee Missionary Baptist Church, Emanuel County
This is one of two beautiful Missionary Baptist churches in Canoochee. It was established in 1896.
General Store, Canoochee
This was obviously an old store at one time but I haven’t been able to locate much information about Canoochee. It’s a neat area, though, and there’s a nice store still in business across the road.
Volunteer Fire Station, Canoochee
This is the old fire station. A modern facility has been built across the road.
