
This large Queen Anne has only been abandoned and its yard overgrown for a few years.

It was once a home and to see it in this condition is disheartening.

Frances W. Neal recently contacted me with some new information about this house, and potentially, history of earlier owners than the Boyd family. She wrote: I have been going through old photos that my mother and grandmother saved. I found this picture of a beautiful home in Dawson, home of Mrs. J.A. Glass…I’m not sure if my grandmother’s first husband was related to the Glass’s or not. He was Robert T. Kennedy of Dawson. My grandmother’s name was Rosa Mary Martin of Wrightsville, GA. She married Robert T Kennedy of Dawson, GA. After he died, she married Richard Furman Barker of Allendale, SC.

As with all historical detective work, this is certainly not the final word, but it’s always a delight to learn more about the old houses I photograph.
