The large red building has served as the Donalsonville fire station for many years, but I believe it will soon be relocated. The structure was built for the Chero-Cola Bottling Works and also housed City Hall for a time.

Though you may see them from time to time, Georgia’s iconic fire towers are actually quite endangered. In the late 1980s, the Georgia Forestry Commission began phasing out the tower operators in favor of an air patrol system. Many were scrapped and sold and of the ones that remain, some are used when air service is unavailable.
Griffin’s old combination city hall and fire department is presently being restored.

This appears to have originated as a 1930s-era filling station.

I don’t know if this has always been a fire station. The facade has been altered, but is typical of late 19th and early 20th century storefronts.
Most fire towers have been decommissioned in Georgia, but Fargo’s is very relevant. The town was threatened by the Bugaboo Scrub Fire of April & May 2007, the largest wildfire in Georgia history.
One of just a few firehouses from this era still in use in Georgia, the Dawson firehouse also features a tornado whistle. The southwest corner of the state is sometimes referred to as Georgia’s “Tornado Alley”.
The fire house is located next door to the Carnegie Library.
