An abandoned tobacco barn with a weathered metal roof, partially covered by trees and vines, surrounded by dense foliage.

This is a good example of a tobacco barn built in the last era of the crop’s dominance in Georgia.

Nevil-Moore-Bird House, Circa 1870, Bulloch County

This Plantation Plain farmhouse was built by John A. Nevil circa 1870. Later owners were T. L. Moore, and his daughter, Mrs. Sam Bird.

 

Nevil Farm Tenant House, Bulloch County

I spoke with the lady who lives next door to this old tenant house and she stated that her husband grew up here. It is a log house and the siding was added later.

Though the hearth has been removed, the tobacco steps still remain in this landmark outside Brooklet, recently exposed by timber removal.
