Meansville’s old jail is located next to the fire station. These small “holding jails”, or calabooses as they are properly known, are increasingly uncommon today.

Built as a bank, this abandoned structure was more recently home to Cochran’s Grocery. The officers of the bank, when it was established in August 1911, were: President, U. L. Taylor; Vice-President, J. W. Holloway; Cashier, Grady Langford; and Bookkeeper, George Smith.

This well-maintained roadside grocery store is located between Lifsey Springs and Molena.

Buzzard Mountain [1102′] is part of a string of relatively high peaks in the Georgia Piedmont which extends southwestward toward Pine Mountain. It’s easily viewed from Molena Road but is located on private property.

Several important historic storefronts still survive on Spring Road as reminders of Molena’s commercial heyday.

This may have served another purpose at one time, but it appears to be in use as a warehouse or storage structure today.

This is located next door to the Molena Baptist Church. I initially thought it was the older home to the Baptists, but Bill Ferguson notes that it was the Methodist Church. It’s presently a Christian outreach center, I believe. It’s a beautiful old church.
