Wanda Stribling writes: “The one with the red awning is the old Bulloch County Bank, next door was Ellis Drugs. Further down the street was McClelland’s 5¢ & 10¢ Store, Belk’s, The Singer Sewing Machine store, and Kenwin’s (a clothing store for women). Then Simmons Shopping Center. (All across from the Bulloch County courthouse and The Buggy & Wagon).”

Just across East Main Street, in Triangle Park, is one of several unique sculptures located around Statesboro honoring Georgia Southern’s Eagles football team. This one, designed by Colleen Beyer Stewart and Wesley Stewart is entitled Farmer’s Market. This neighborhood has undergone a bit of a renaissance recently and is now home to Eagle Creek Brewery, a popular brewpub and a first for Statesboro.

Pyramidal Cottage, Statesboro

This house type illustrates the difficulty in reaching a consensus on vernacular forms. Options here include: hip-roof, pyramidal, or even, Folk Victorian.

Donaldson-Simmons House, Statesboro

This appears to have originally been a Queen Anne cottage. Will Simmons relays that his grandfather, Bill H. Simmons (1883-1949), did a lot of renovations to the house. These probably included the porch.

This landmark at the corner of College Boulevard & Savannah Avenue was later restored by Douglass Nettleton.

Bulloch County Courthouse, 1894, Statesboro

Built in 1894 by the firm of Bruce & Morgan this iconic courthouse was renovated, with the addition of the columns in 1914, by Savannah architect Julian de Bruyn Kops.
